Dear Valued Customer,
Effective September 18, 2026, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has begun voiding Importer of Record (IOR) numbers due to incorrect or missing information on CBP Form 5106.
A voided IOR number cannot be used for U.S. import customs clearance. Consequently, shipments may be held at the port, incurring detention/demurrage charges and causing severe delivery delays.
Please immediately verify the following details:
- Legal Name: Must strictly match your IRS documentation or Business Registration.
- Identification Number: Ensure the EIN, SSN, or CBP-assigned number is accurate and active.
- Physical Address: Must be a legitimate operating location — not an email address, agent’s address, virtual office, or freight forwarder’s address.
- Contact Information: Ensure the email and phone number on file are active, as CBP sends official notifications via the registered email.
- DDP Shipments to the U.S.: Confirm who holds the IOR, ensure the Customs Bond remains valid, and verify that the Customs Broker is CTPAT certified.
If an IOR number has already been voided, a new Form 5106 must be submitted to CBP for reactivation, accompanied by an IRS confirmation letter (issued within the last 12 months) and a Power of Attorney (POA) if signed by a broker. The processing time typically takes around 5 working days — do not wait until the vessel arrives.
Our Customer Service team is available to assist you in auditing your IOR profiles and adjusting Incoterms (e.g., switching from DDP to FOB/FCA) if your current setup poses high risks.
Please update us on any U.S. shipments currently in transit or planned for booking within the next 2 weeks so we can pre-check your status.
Sincerely, Access the complete text at: www.anctransport.com.
Best regards,
